I purchased one of these two years ago and it failed; a ball bearing popped out of the shredder plate drive. This one replaced the failed unit under warranty; it took over a month to receive the replacement. Easy enough to replace.

GFC1020N

I cannot get the disposal to attach to the drain. The aluminum mount ring will not slip over the cushion mount once installed on the sink flange no matter what I do I can get the disposer to connect to the mounting ring. I cannot get the mounting ring to turn. I have tried about 10 times and and I may possibly have the wrong flange for the GFC1020N. Anyone else have this problem? Or can I get the correct sink flange?

Easy installation. Dropped right in to the old disposal, which was an Insinkerator, without replumbing the drain or trap. Very quiet for a 1hp disposal and much quieter then the unit it replaced which was only 4 years old.

Like so many others said in their reviews, I bought this unit because it was the top rated continuous feed disposer on Consumer Reports. It™€™s bigger than my old unit so I had to make some adjustments to the piping under the sink, but installation wasn™€™t too difficult. The hardest part was removing the old sink flange, which was secured with putty. I hoped it would be quieter considering the price range, but it™€™s no louder than my old 1/2 hp disposer. It™€™s very powerful - we call it ™€œThe Beast™€! I tried to reach inside to see if any of the thick lime peels were left behind, but it™€™s designed to be too small to fit your hand inside. Luckily it™€™s strong enough that it ground up everything I put in it.

Read the instructions and do at least one dry run before crawling under the sink! Went together fine. Had to use plumbers putty and I am concerned that all three plumber putty brands said to not use the putty on plastic, which is exactly where it was needed (sink flange). Splash guard has a smaller opening than our previous disposall and caught my wife stuffing stuf into the disposall with her fingers.
