Originally founded in 1907 under the name Decker & Alvord, the business was originally located on Main Street in Canaan, Connecticut. The shop relocated to Railroad Street in 1910. In 1914, Hiram F. Beebe purchased Mr. Alvord's interest in the business and ever since, the business has been know as Decker & Beebe. W.N. Decker died in 1932. In 1934, Hiram Beebe formed a partnership with William N. Beebe and William J. Torrant. In 1944, George J. Schaefer and Edwin G. Goodness purchased Hiram Beebe's interest. The business was formally incorporated by the four owners - G.J. Schaefer, E.G. Goodness, W.N. Beebe and W.J. Torrant as Decker & Beebe, Inc. to "conduct a general plumbing and heating business with a display of General Electric, Bendix Home Laundry and Homgas."
